We have had quite a week since coming home from the hospital. Noah's birthday is this Sunday, August 10 and between getting ready for his Minecraft party, taking care of him, and being mom/wife to the rest of the family, the days have really flown by.
I interviewed a candidate for full-time nurse on Monday and she's starting training at our house today! We are so excited and feel like she is truly just the right one for the job and for our family. She will officially start on Monday. I never mind doing Noah's nursing care - it's a privilege to be his mom, and as a mom I'm happy to do whatever my children may need. On the other hand, his care is considerably more complex than it was even a couple of months ago and it will be a relief to have help for 8 hours a day so that I can focus more on just being mommy to everyone during those hours.
I need to find time to sit down and post more about where Noah is medically and how things are changing. For now, I'm simply going to ask your continued prayers for him and for our entire family. As one doctor put it recently, Noah is in a very bad place right now medically. Despite recent changes in his health and abilities, Noah remains as happy, loving, charming, and thankful as ever. He remains an absolute delight to all of us!!
Noah has a very big weekend coming up. He is having a big Minecraft birthday party on Saturday and all of his siblings have been involved with planning and preparation to make this a very, very special birthday. Sunday is his actual birthday and he is also getting baptized on Sunday!! We don't baptize infants - we believe that baptism is an individual choice and act of obedience taken after someone has received Christ. We've tried to arrange baptism for Noah several times but he's been too sick each time. So far he's doing well enough this week that we are confident this will happen. Since he can't be immersed, he can easily be baptized anywhere. In light of how Noah's been struggling, our pastor has offered to come to our home or even the hospital to baptize him if needed, but we are joyfully anticipating having Noah baptized in church Sunday surrounded by our church family and others who love him!
A friend has set up a birthday card drive for Noah on Facebook. I've meant all week to mention it here - I know it's late in the game, but he most certainly won't mind getting cards into next week!! There is a mailing address here if you click the tab for sending mail to Noah - if you have a moment and would like to send him a card, I know he would really enjoy it!! Feel free to share this information with anyone you know who might like to send him a card (and if you are on FB and prefer to share that way, I posted the card drive event on my wall.)
Please be in prayer for this weekend to go well. It is very bittersweet in many ways and we are praying for many sweet memories to be made. I will be sure to share lots and lots of pictures of the party and the baptism!!
