We are home and Noah is safe and sound in his bed.
The surgery was very early yesterday morning. It took considerably longer than any line surgery Noah's had before - he was back for more than 2 hours. The surgeon said that this was absolutely the right call and that when he took out the line the site proved to be far more infected than he realized. The old site still looks pretty bad and we'll be treating with bactroban 3 times a day for a while.
Noah had quite a lot of discomfort yesterday but is doing much better now. The incision in his neck is still hurting quite a bit, and it is really bothering him. There is the physical discomfort of course but he is also telling me that he feels sad that there is a "hole" in his neck and he's worried about the fact that there will be a scar. Granted, he's already got two scars along his neck but his last new line was almost a year ago and he's just that much older and more self-conscious now.T
he big concern right now is that the new line is still actively bleeding quite a bit. No one has any idea why this would be the case. He had a lot of labs, including clotting factors, done on admission. The clotting factors were fine but his hemoglobin had dropped quite a lot so they gave Noah a unit of blood during the night before his surgery. While I wish his hemoglobin hadn't dropped that way, I am very thankful that they were able to transfuse him while we were already in the hospital instead of our having to take to get blood next week.

I'm interviewing a potential nurse tomorrow morning. If she works out, we should end up with nursing coverage 7 days a week starting next week.
Prayer requests:
- that Noah's new line site would stop bleeding and that it would be a good, stable, healthy line
- that the infected old site would heal
- that Noah's little spirit would heal and he wouldn't continue to be sad about the new line
- that the Lord would continue to bless the auction
- for wisdom during this interview tomorrow - we need the RIGHT nurse and I don't want to make any unwise decisions out of my desire to fill this position
