Columbia tomorrow

Despite very high-powered I.V. antibiotics, the area around Noah's central line is getting more red, more inflamed, and more broken-down.  He has an appointment at the local wound care clinic on Thursday, but as the site continued to worsen today Dr. B and Dr. A (our line surgeon) felt that Noah needed to be seen by the surgeon ASAP.

He's got an appointment with Dr. A in Columbia tomorrow afternoon so that Dr. A can determine whether to make recommendations for treatment OR admit him to have the line removed and replaced.   Noah's had lines that looked MUCH worse that were just treated, but I understand that there's a lot of concern about the line getting worse while on antibiotics.  I just want whatever is best for Noah and am praying to that end.

Noah's supra-pubic site is getting worse - not awful, but noticeably worse than yesterday.  There really isn't much to be done right now but it's possible that the wound care team will have some ideas.  We are also waiting to get back a boatload of immune system labs that were drawn yesterday.  It's possible that they will point to an immune system issue that we could treat and therefore promote healing.

The fundraiser auction for the bus is going very well - if you haven't checked it out, you'll want to do so at https://www.facebook.com/wheelsfortheestesfamily .  Bidding is pretty intense on some items but others have no bids at all, and we still have some gift cards with bidding well under the face value of the card - this might be your chance to snag a real bargain!!  My friend Kara has done an incredible job with the auction and we are so thankful for her efforts as well as the generosity of all who have donated auction items and/or placed bids!!!  (BTW, Kara is willing to accept donations for the auction through tomorrow - Wednesday - so if you have a gift card or other item you'd like to donate, just let her know through the auction site!)

Please continue to pray for the right decisions to be made regarding Noah's central line.  We just need to get this cleared up or replaced or whatever rather than limping along with a site that keeps getting worse.  We have two nurses coming to interview and orient with us next week - one Monday and one Tuesday.  Please pray that they will work out OR that the right nurse(s) will be found STAT.   We're only getting three days a week of nursing and I'm simply exhausted.  I'm not sure our nurse will even come in tomorrow since she'd only be able to work a couple of hours.  It will be a HUGE relief to have some help each and every day especially with Noah's needs being very intense right now.

Thank you for your prayers.

Blessings,
Kate
