The past few days have been a whirlwind. Very early Thursday morning Noah's central line came out. The sutures had been removed because of the cellulitus and it urns out the line had never properly adhered to his chest wall so there was nothing holding the line in place.
We had to call an ambulance and come to Columbia for emergency surgery to place a new line. Noah had a great deal of bleeding after the surgery but it finally slowed down an we were able to co n e home Friday evening.
David's birthday party was Saturday morning. I managed to get my shopping, cooking, and decorating done Friday night with the help of Jeff and the kids. The party was a success but right at the end Noah started bleeding very heavily again and had to come back to Columbia by ambulance.
His O2 levels were quite low on the ambulance and he needed oxygen to stabilize them. He got to Columbia and had a transfusion and vitamin K injections because his clotting times are a bit elevated. The bleeding slowed back down but he has continued to have low sats on and off. A chest xray showed atelectasis which is small pockets of collapsed lung.
As the desats have continued despite oxygen and other therapies, the doctors feel that we are probably dealing with a cardiac or neurological issue. Since Noah's specialists are in Greenville he is being transferred to their PICU (intensive care) tomorrow so that testing can be done by those who are most familiar with him.
This has been an incredibly exhausting few weeks with these back-to-back hospital stays, multiple ambulance rides and ER visits, and more. We're drained in every sense but trusting in God to provide in every sense.
While Noah is definitely pale and tired, he really doesn't look bad at all. I have no sense of how serious or minor this whole thing is. It all just seems very surreal.
