Making Progress!

Things certainly seem to be moving in the right direction for Noah!   Blood cultures that were drawn two days ago are still negative (meaning no bacteria is growing out) .  More cultures were drawn today from his line and his arm.

If his vitals stay stable and his cultures stay negative,  we could be looking at going home Saturday.

His infection is being treated very aggressively.   We have an increased risk of relapse because we chose not to replace his line, but given the risks of a new line placement and the aggressiveness of his treatment, everyone is comfortable that we are pursuing the least risky course.

Noah is far from his baseline but over and over he's shown us that there's no place like home.  The next couple of weeks are going to be extremely difficult from a medical management perspective but it's completely worth it to get him home instead of staying in patient to complete his course of treatment.   While it's impossible to know if he'll fully return to his former baseline, we do know he will do his very best in his very own bed in his very own room! He'll also be more motivated to stay awake more and build up his strength when he's surrounded by his siblings and friends.

Please continue praying.   We are thankful beyond words that this did not take a catastrophic turn and we don't want any 11th hour complications to arise- Noah has a fun and busy summer to tackle!

Blessings,
Kate
