Prayers for tomorrow

Noah is going to get his supra-pubic catheter changed out tomorrow in the O.R. in Greenville.  We'd planned to have it done last Thursday but the only open O.R. slot was at 7:30 AM.  That would mean leaving here at 4:30 AM to be there by 6 AM which would mean waking Noah up at 3:45 AM or so to get him into his wheelchair . . .

Of course, we'd do that without hesitation if this was critical or if there were no other option, but since this is so routine everyone agreed that we could put it off for tomorrow (with a more do-able O.R. time of noon)!

As always we appreciate your prayers even though this is such a minor and routine thing for him.

A funny Noah story - the other day I used some of that wrinkle-spray that you can spray on clothes when you are too lazy don't have time to iron.  I used it on one of his polo shirts that he was going to wear to church and when we got home and I tried to change him into a t-shirt for his nap, he protested because he said his shirt smelled sooooo good.  This is the child who doesn't think ANYTHING smells good (literally the only exception is clover flowers!!).  He keeps asking me to put it on his clothes even if they aren't wrinkly so, thinking of how he HATES the smell of the O.R.,  I offered to spray it on his hospital gown (we bring his own pirate print gown from home).  He said that it would help a "little tiny bit" if it was sprayed on his gown but what I REALLY needed to do was to bring the bottle into the O.R. to spray all of the doctors and equipment.  I don't see that happening for him anytime soon so we decided to just go with spraying his gown and spraying Teddy LOL.

There's really no other big news.  He's been doing very well and is settling in well with his new nurse.  We still need nursing for Friday-Sunday but even having the 4 days a week is a huge help.  We are starting with a new speech therapist and she is coming to do his speech eval on Thursday.  I'm tickled pink about this as she comes highly recommended and he really does need speech services.  She's from the same company as his physical therapist and I'd anticipate her coming out once a week from now on.  His speech is getting harder to understand and I'm hoping that this will be a big help. 

He's seeing his cardiologist in Greenville on Monday.  This should also be pretty routine but I'll be sure to update.  After that he doesn't have any big visits or anything coming up until his sleep study October 10.  It's such a blessing for things to be so calm and stable for him!!

Our new school year is going swimmingly and I'm pleased with how well the children are all doing.  I am asking a lot of the older and middle ones this year and thought the transition might be a little harder but they've done beautifully as they transition into higher grades with higher demands and expectations.  The little ones are also doing well and I anticipate the Mary Faith will be reading within a week or two!  Hard to believe since it seems like she was just born!!!
