BIG prayer request - when the nurse
drew labs on Noah today one of his lumens of his central line stopped
working and when she tried to flush it, a
large hole blew out the side of that lumen. This is twice in less than
three weeks that a lumen has stopped working then developed a hole -
the difference this time is that the hole is HUGE (gaping blown out
hole) and it is about 1/3 of an inch before the "y" part of his triple
lumen line so it does not look repairable.
We are heading to
Columbia to meet the surgeon and he'll decide what to do - repair or
surgery. As much as I pushed for REPAIR last time, the idea of a repair
makes me very uneasy this time but I'm fighting tears at the idea of
surgery. Noah is really struggling which is a big part of why I haven't
had time to update - we're getting some disturbing vitals, have had to
increase both of his pain meds, is battling another skin-level infection
around his supra-pubic (and had to have it cauterized AGAIN last
night), etc. He can't seem to catch a break and either can I - we
still only have nursing 3-4 days a week (the new one didn't work out).
Please just pray. I'll let you know whether it's a repair or surgery.
Just pray the doctor makes the RIGHT decision, whatever that may be.
Blessings,
Kate
