Monday night update:

I have spoken with Kate.  She is beyond exhausted and has an aching jaw because she lost a crown from one of her molars.  But she relates the following information:

Noah's surgery went well today.  He is still under the lingering effects of the anesthetics, but doing well.  His line is working very well.

Noah's pain has increased markedly and the doctors in W-S have added IV fentanyl to his IV methadone.

The doctors do believe Noah aspirated last night during his vomiting episodes.  However, he seems to be clearing the aspiration on his own and so far has not had a fever and pneumonia from it.

Noah's urine has a lot of sediment and the doctors are unsure why.

Here's the deal with the hospital transfer.  Kate  believes it to be in Noah's best interest to be transferred to Greenville for a few days so that his team of doctors there can be brought up to speed on all of the changes.  Noah is approaching his transfusion threshold, has a new line, etc.  He will need the specialists to coordinate their care.  This would be accomplished much easier as an inpatient than through 6 separate outpatient doctor office visits.   Kate is waiting on the news from the W-S hospital to see how the details will be worked out.  Kate is hoping for a ground transfer so she can go with Noah and won't have to make separate travel arrangements for herself.  (Even though she knows it could be arranged.)  Also pray because the fact that Noah is now on IV fentanyl makes him a mandatory admission to Greenville's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) which Kate would love to avoid.    If they cannot get all of this arranged by 11am tomorrow, Noah will have to stay another night.

Please pray for Kate to get some rest and for Hannah who is having all 4 of her wisdom teeth removed tomorrow - without Mom close by.

Thanks to all of you in W-S who have befriended and aided Kate while she and Noah have been so far from us at home.
