Happy birthday, Dear Noah!
>> Wednesday, August 10, 2011
Today was the day that Noah's been longing for - today he turned 5.
He had a great birthday. He didn't feel too good and spent most of the day on the couch . . . but he didn't mind because there was always one sibling or another to snuggle with him and watch movies together.
I ran out to the store looking for something and found him the cutest little cup on clearance today. It's one of those mug/lid/straw cups with an inner core that holds all sorts of red sea creatures and glitter - the perfect Noah cup! He enjoyed using it for his birthday lunch of lemonade and a lollipop. :-)
Since his octopus party is Saturday, we let him decide how he wanted his table decorated tonight - it was no surprise that he chose dinosaurs and asked for a chocolate volcano cake. I made him a not-a-cake out of chocolate ice cream - I softened the ice cream and put it in a parchment lined 9x13, refroze it, and popped it out onto a tray. I managed to pipe some frosting around the edges and add a chocolate volcano to the top (complete with 5 red lava candles, of course!). It won't win any decorating contests (ice cream melts FAST when you're trying to decorate it LOL) but he was just thrilled. He only ate a couple of bites, but the important thing is that he could choose to eat it or not.
Jeff's mom and my mom and stepdad joined us for the festivities, and Noah enjoyed seeing them. He got several Lego sets, a Playmobil set, and an Imaginext boat - he was so pleased and excited about his new things. His brothers will be VERY busy tomorrow helping him build his new Legos. :-)
I have more to share about our week, but it isn't great news, so it can wait. Today I am thankful that Noah is here sleeping sweetly and safely in his own bed after blowing out FIVE candles. I love him more than words can express, and am so, so grateful for the gift of another year.
Here are some picture highlights of his big day - enjoy!
